Cadbury Cottage near Chulmleigh
Following a visit to our Roborough fields, Nick was asked to undertake a similar project on a 10 acre piece of land near Chulmleigh. Work started in mid-January, and completed in early February.
We documented much of his work via videos that we have shared on our YouTube channel
Below is the pretty much blank canvas that he started from, and you can probably see the similarities to the Roborough site.

Over a couple of weeks, this is what he was able to achieve:
“Nick arrived on site on a mild and sunny day in late January and two and a half weeks later, he left us with lots of mud and mess!!! And it looked brilliant! He dug nine new ponds and improved an existing one, created lots of banks and scrapes and planted scores of willow whips.
Since then, a mere few weeks, we have had frogspawn laid and a variety of beetles and pond skaters make these new ponds their home. Bird life has already increased with species that were occasional visitors, now seeming to be more resident, including yellowhammers, linnets and willow warblers. Invertebrates and small mammals have moved into the banks and long grasses, and it looks as though the Cuckoo flower and Celandine are more abundant than ever.
We now have the beginnings of a wildlife oasis which will improve our soil, increase biodiversity, pollinate our plants and bring huge joy to our local community (we are a venue for our local Sustainability group here in Chulmleigh).
We cannot recommend Nick and the Roborough team enough – skill, knowledge and vision are all available in abundance. And at a more than reasonable cost.
If you care about your land and the future of wildlife here in the UK, let Roborough Rewilders come and create mud and mess at your place as well.”
